BankUnited Inc. (NYSE: BKU) announced it has named 30-year bank industry veteran Mario Facella as senior vice president, commercial real estate relationship manager based in the company’s Miami Lakes corporate office. In this position, he will be responsible for BankUnited’s commercial real estate business concentrating on the Miami-Dade region.
“Mario is a respected professional with combined banking and commercial real estate expertise dating to the early 1990s,” said Benjamin Stacks, BankUnited’s executive vice president, head of commercial real estate banking. “We are very pleased to have him join our team to focus on the critical South Florida market, a region he knows and understands extremely well.”
Facella joins BankUnited from TD Bank, where he managed the bank’s commercial real estate portfolio as senior lender for the South Florida market. This role included management of a $1 billion commercial real estate portfolio. Prior to joining TD Bank in 2014, he served as senior private banker with Wells Fargo – The Private Bank in Miami. The balance of his career includes additional commercial real estate-oriented banking roles in the South Florida region.
Since 2018, Facella has been on the board of the Florida Housing Finance Corporation and is the immediate past president of the South Florida Chapter of Real Estate Lenders Association (RELA). He earned an MBA/Real Estate Finance Concentration and BBA/Finance Major; Real Estate Concentration, at James Madison University.
