Marshall Dennehey Shareholders Recognized as Florida Trend Legal Elite Notable Women Leaders in Law

Marshall Dennehey is pleased to announce that two of its Florida shareholders, Peggy Smith Bush and Heather Byrer Carbone, have been recognized as 2024 Florida Trend Legal Elite NOTABLE – Women Leaders in Law. Both are honored for their impact in the field of law, mentorship, and leadership in professional organizations and civic/community service initiatives.

Bush is a shareholder in the Casualty Department in Marshall Dennehey’s Orlando office. With over 22 years of experience as a litigator, advocate and counselor, she routinely defends insurers and their insureds, and self-insured businesses against claims involving trucking and transportation, premises liability, product liability, negligent security, and general liability.

She is an active long-time member of The Florida Bar’s Mental Health & Wellness of Florida Lawyers Committee, active in The Florida Bar’s Counsel to Counsel Mentoring Program, and routinely participates in the Orange County Bar Association’s Mentorship Program and Professionalism Committee.  For over 32 years, she has been a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and the GFWC du Midi Woman’s Club community service organizations. She is active in the George C. Young First Central Florida American Inns of Court (Master level) and a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator.

Carbone is a shareholder in the Workers’ Compensation Department in Marshall Dennehey’s Jacksonville office and leads the firm’s Florida workers’ compensation practice. Board Certified by The Florida Bar in Workers’ Compensation, she devotes the entirety of her practice to workers’ compensation defense, representing businesses, third-party administrators and self-insureds across a myriad of industries.

She is a committee member of the Jacksonville Humane Society and volunteers for Jacksonville Area Legal Aid. She’s also an active member in the E. Robert Williams Inn of Court (Executive Committee Member, Membership Co-Chair); Friends of 440 Scholarship Organization (Co-Chair 2010-2012, Treasurer 2009-2010); and Jacksonville Bar Association (Co-Chair Workers’ Compensation Section 2010, 2011).

Carbone frequently presents on emerging issues in workers’ compensation to a wide variety of claims and legal organizations, including The Florida Bar Workers’ Compensation Section, Workers’ Compensation Institute, Workers’ Compensation Claims Professionals and the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance. She is additionally a Certified Instructor of Insurance Education for the State of Florida.
