Outstanding employee is an Everyday Hero at senior living community
Moving up the ladder from student worker to administrative assistant in Dining Services, Lauren Maddaloni exemplifies Cedar Crest‘s Everyday Heroes. Lauren says the best part about working at Cedar Crest, an Erickson Senior Living community in Pequannock, New Jersey, is the connections she’s formed with residents.
“The residents make each day enjoyable no matter what is going on because they are appreciative of everything that we do for them. Not a day goes by that I don’t hear thank you from at least one resident,” said Lauren. “Being able to help residents and make a difference in their lives is truly rewarding.”
Lauren, who started as wait staff in 2007 at the age of 15, has been promoted several times at Cedar Crest to Dining Services associate to Barista to her current position assisting the Dining Services leadership team. She is also a member of the Values and Safety committees and co-chairs Cedar Crest’s Diversity and Inclusion committee. In April, the committee organized a successful fundraiser for Autism Awareness Month.
In addition to her dedication to her job, Lauren continues to pursue her higher education. This past summer, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and Management from Johnson & Wales and is currently pursuing her master’s degree. She took advantage of Cedar Crest’s Tuition Reimbursement program when eligible and was a recipient of a scholarship from the community’s scholarship fund when she was a student worker.
“My leadership team has been so supportive of me pursuing my career and educational goals,” said Lauren. “Cedar Crest is an amazing place to work because it is like a family. It’s an open and warm environment filled with people who care.”
“Lauren is an outstanding employee who is hardworking, creative, a team player, and always willing to help when needed,” said Director of Dining Services Paul Cimins. “We are so proud of her accomplishments and look forward to seeing her continue to grow in her career at Cedar Crest.”
Cedar Crest employs more than 950 employees and was voted a Best Place to Work by NJ.com/Star Ledger for two consecutive years.
