Broward Children’s Center’s 21st Annual Miles for Smiles 5K Raised Over $100,000

In an effort to support medically fragile children and their families, Broward Children’s Center hosted its 21st Annual Miles for Smiles 5K, presented by Rick Case Automotive Group, at Pompano Beach Community Park on Saturday, Nov. 16. Over 250 runners, walkers, families, community leaders, wheelchairs and strollers of all ages came together in the beautiful Pompano Beach Community Park to raise funds and awareness to support Broward Children’s Center.

Miles for Smiles raised over $100,000 to benefit Broward Children’s Center, a nonprofit organization that has been serving infants, children and young adults with special needs since 1971. Proceeds raised support the Center’s crucial programs and medical, developmental and therapeutic services designed to meet the specific needs of infants, children and young adults who are developmentally disabled and medically fragile and their families.

Guests participated in a fun-filled morning featuring a family-friendly 5K, children’s activities, live entertainment, raffles, an awards ceremony and more. WPLG-ABC Local 10 Anchor Nicole Perez energized and engaged the crowd. Participants joined the 5K race as an individual or a team and conducted online fundraising prior to race day.

The event was attended by Broward Children’s Center’s team, board members and families and Broward County dignitaries including Pompano Beach Commissioner Alison Fournier andBroward Country Commissioner Lamar P. Fisher.

“We are tremendously grateful for all those who sponsored, donated, ran, walked, strolled, volunteered and attended the 21st Annual Miles for Smiles 5K,” said David Perez, M.B.A., director of development at Broward Children’s Center. “The fun-filled day wouldn’t have been possible without our supporters who are committed to serving infants, children and young adults who are developmentally disabled and medically fragile. The 5K helped us raise the necessary funds to serve the Centers’ crucial programs and help us provide the continuum of services designed to meet the needs of each child and their families.”
