MPT executive and Owings Mills resident among 51 graduates of the class of 2024
Maryland Public Television’s (MPT) Betsy Peisach, vice president, Maryland Center for Media Literacy & Education, has completed Leadership Maryland’s Executive Program, a professional development program dedicated to building a better Maryland by harnessing the strength of its local business and community leaders.
Leadership Maryland honored Peisach and the Executive Program class of 2024 at its 31st graduation ceremony held December 3 at the Hilton Baltimore BWI Airport. She is now a member of Leadership Maryland’s alumni network consisting of more than 1,500 leaders from across the state.
Peisach is one of 51 individuals who completed the eight-month learning program. The class participated in an orientation and closing retreat that bookended five, two-day sessions focused on Maryland’s five main geographic regions and vital issues impacting economic development, education, health and human services, criminal justice, the environment, and multi-culturalism/diversity across the state. More than 100 experts representing business, government, education, and non-profit communities served as panelists and guest speakers.
“On behalf of our staff, board, and membership, I congratulate the Executive Program class of 2024 on completing the program and joining our alumni family,” said David Fike ’16 (LM), president and CEO, Leadership Maryland. “Each class year brings its own unique lessons, and I am proud to have witnessed the ways the class of 2024 embraced each one on their journey to become a force for positive change in their organizations, communities, and state.”
At MPT, Peisach oversees a staff of early childhood professionals, preK-12 educators, and media producers who provide quality educational videos, interactive classroom resources, online courses for local educators and child care providers, and professional development opportunities to promote best practices in teaching and learning. MPT’s education team reaches thousands of educators and families each year, and its website Thinkport.org is used in classrooms across the state.
Peisach spearheaded the November 2024 launch of the Maryland Center for Media Literacy & Education (Center). A major expansion of MPT’s long-standing Education Division, the Center addresses the challenges and impacts of today’s media-saturated society and supports the well-being of Maryland citizens of all ages. In addition to being a 2024 Leadership Maryland Executive Program graduate, Peisach serves on the strategic steering committee of the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education and the PBS LearningMedia Advisory Council.
