Moore & Van Allen PLLC (MVA) is pleased to announce that Member Christopher D. Thompson was selected for Connect CRE’s 2024 Lawyers in Real Estate Awards. Thompson was named a winner in the Atlanta & Southeast region.

For six consecutive years, Connect CRE’s Lawyers in Real Estate Awards program has recognized standout commercial real estate attorneys. Winners are selected based on their practice impact and contributions to the industry and the community. Thompson was selected as a winner from among more than 300 submissions from companies across the country.
With nearly 15 years in real estate practice, Thompson has extensive experience representing developers, investors, nonprofit and affordable housing organizations, and Fortune 500 and Global 500 companies in acquiring, developing, financing, and leasing commercial real estate and large residential developments. He has been the ground-up attorney on numerous large, multi-use developments. This work has involved drafting declarations and easements, negotiating purchase and sale agreements, assisting in zoning and development matters, facilitating in retail leasing, and closing multiple loans for the acquisition and construction of the project. Additionally, Thompson has been involved in numerous complex hotel and condominium transactions in marquee locations and has extensive understanding of the North Carolina Planned Community and Condominium acts.
Also notable is Thompson’s role co-leading MVA’s Human Trafficking Pro Bono Project, which dedicates legal resources to support victims of this crime. He facilitates the process of matching survivors with attorneys to help with a wide range of service areas, including expunction of criminal records, victim-witness advocacy, family law consultations, name changes, and assistance with credit repair and financial inclusion. The program helps around 50 survivors per year, and Thompson spends approximately 150 hours annually in support of these efforts.
