ARTFUN RX Launches Art Therapy Wellness Program at Miami Art Week Event with Pitbull’s SLAM Foundation

ARTFUN RX, “the creative wellness script,” an innovative online platform blending art therapy with holistic wellness, celebrated its launch with a creative wellness and art therapy experience at Pitbull’s SLAM (Sports Leadership Arts Management) Charter School during Miami’s 2024 Art Week. This free event brought together Miami’s professional athletes, high-profile individuals, health experts, and community members to highlight the intersection of sports, art, and mental wellness.

The event, held on Sunday, December 8, transformed SLAM’s campus into a vibrant hub of creativity and healing. Designed for Miami’s youth, families, and art and wellness enthusiasts, the experience, curated by SLAM art and Nova Southeastern University students, featured:

  • A Live DJ Performance: 14-year-old DJ Marley, a regular at Miami Heat events, energized the crowd with a lively soundtrack.
  • All-Star Wellness Panel: Speakers included Shanna Israel, Founder & Creative Director of ARTFUN RX; Jimmy Conrad, former MLS/USMNT player and CBS Sports soccer analyst; Dr. Kristen Willeumier, neuroscientist and author; Brandin Bryant, former NFL player and children’s book author; and Jill Woods, a holistic healer specializing in nervous system health who also led a Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping session.
  • Immersive Art Therapy Sessions: Participants explored emotional release through splatter painting with The Break Room Miami where kids crafted sports-themed wearable art, and engaged in therapeutic art projects via a gifted ARTFUN RX Life Tool Kit containing items for the activation.
  • Brain-Boosting Culinary Delights: True Food Kitchen provided nourishing cuisine designed to promote brain health.

ARTFUN RX will continue fundraising for the SLAM Foundation, a non-profit network of charter schools founded by Grammy-winning artist Pitbull, through next year. SLAM integrates sports, arts, and technology into education, serving over 10,000 students nationwide.

“At SLAM, we strive to equip students with the tools to excel academically, socially, and emotionally. Collaborating with ARTFUN RX during Miami Art Week allowed us to bring art and wellness together, creating an inspiring and engaging experience for our students and community,” said Millie Sanchez, SLAM’s Chief Administrative Officer. “We are grateful for this exciting opportunity and for the continued partnership with ARTFUN RX.”

The event served as the official launchpad for ARTFUN RX’s groundbreaking creative wellness and art therapy online platform that provides accessible creative tools and self-care techniques for mental and physical well-being. The progressive, interactive course uses activities that enhance the brain and nervous system, science based modalities, and custom curated therapies by ARTFUN RX. This program is designed to support youth (ages 6-18 years old) facing trauma, mental and physical health challenges, and / or those in need of essential life skills.

The platform is now active for registration on ARTFUNRX.com – those who sign up before Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2024, will receive a special offer. Users can expect:

  • 3 online creative wellness sessions focusing on the athlete mindset
  • Supplies & instructions for each session
  • Custom guided meditations and EFT tapping
  • Positive affirmations for consistent use
  • Thought provoking questions

“ARTFUN RX is redefining wellness by making creative therapies accessible, affordable and fun for all ages,” said Shanna Israel, Founder and Creative Director of ARTFUN RX. “Partnering with SLAM, an organization focused on elevating kids’ lives through a positive mindset and more during Art Week allowed us to connect directly with Miami’s youth and demonstrate the transformative power of art and wellness that we hope to share with everyone across the nation.”

The collaboration between ARTFUN RX and SLAM highlighted the shared mission to empower the next generation through innovative approaches to learning and mental wellness.
