Jason Gentry, a global real estate advisor with Premier Sotheby’s International Realty’s Charlotte office, has been honored as the 2024 Canopy REALTOR® of the Year. This prestigious accolade, awarded by the Canopy REALTOR® Association, is the highest recognition for a member who has made exceptional contributions to the real estate profession and their community.
The award was presented during the Holiday Awards Luncheon at the Sonesta Charlotte Executive Park on December 13.
Jason’s roots in North Carolina’s foothills and his architectural background have defined his approach to real estate. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science in architecture, Jason spent years honing his expertise at renowned firms Jenkins • Peer Architects and Perkins+Will before obtaining his real estate license in 2009.
Jason’s leadership and commitment to his profession have been evident throughout his career. In 2018, he became the youngest president in the history of the Canopy REALTOR® Association, spearheading transformative initiatives, including the organization’s rebranding, the construction of a LEED Silver-certified headquarters, and a 30% membership increase. His continued service extends to the National Association of REALTORS® and North Carolina REALTORS®.
In addition to his professional success, Jason is dedicated to philanthropy and advocacy. His contributions to the Canopy Housing Foundation reflect the Association’s mission of fostering housing opportunities and community growth.
