The Venable Foundation, Inc., the philanthropic arm of law firm Venable LLP, announced its last round of giving for 2024—$1.3 million in grants to 124 U.S.-based nonprofits—bringing its total for the year to nearly $4 million and 477 grants.
“We are pleased that the Foundation has been able to fund key initiatives and support programming that makes a meaningful difference in our communities across the country,” said Bob Waldman, president, Venable Foundation.
The latest cycle of charitable grants and donations includes:
- $437,500 to 39 organizations in Washington, DC
- $372,500 to 28 organizations in Baltimore
- $195,000 to 22 organizations in New York City
- $175,000 to 21 organizations in Los Angeles
- $25,000 to five organizations in San Francisco
- $60,000 to nine organizations in Chicago
“The organizations we support are at the forefront of addressing critical needs, and their impact inspires us to continue expanding our reach and deepening our support,” added Michael Bigley, director, Venable Foundation. “We look forward to reviewing next year’s applications.”
Based on Venable’s geographic expansion, the Foundation is now accepting grant proposals from Miami- and Denver-focused nonprofit organizations. The next application deadline is February 3. The submission form and a complete list of grant recipients can be found here.
Recipients of the grants, which average $10,000 each, are purposely broad in their focus. The Foundation supports a wide variety of charitable, civic, and cultural endeavors and serves public interest law needs in our communities. Grantees provide a variety of programs for the community, including out-of-school activities, arts education, academic enrichment, homeless services, transitional and supportive housing, access to food, LGBTQ+ services, college access, workforce development, environmental preservation, health-based initiatives, legal services, immigration support, and a variety of other issues affecting low-income individuals and domestic violence survivors.
