Goodell DeVries is proud to announce that our partner Carrie Williams has been named a Deputy Attorney General by Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown.
Carrie has been a valued member of our Appellate Practice Group since 2022. Working closely with the practice chair, Derek Stikeleather, she has handled our most significant pre-trial and appellate matters for clients across the firm’s many practice groups.
Carrie’s appointment marks her return to government service. Before joining Goodell DeVries, she served as Principal Counsel for Criminal Policy and, before that, Division Chief of the Criminal Appeals Division at the Maryland Office of the Attorney General.
During her tenure with the firm, Carrie further bolstered her credentials as a leading appellate lawyer. She was one of the few private attorneys selected among many appellate judges in the inaugural class of Maryland’s Cole-Davidson Appellate Inn of Court. In 2023, she was appointed by Governor Wes Moore to the Appellate Courts Judicial Nominating Commission. She was also named Co-chair of the Maryland State Bar Association’s Appellate Practice Committee.
Carrie will resign her partnership at Goodell DeVries this month.
