Joshua Blosveren Joins Cohen Ziffer Frenchman & McKenna as a Partner

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Cohen Ziffer Frenchman & McKenna, the insurance recovery law firm that represents Fortune 500 companies, private equity firms, and other corporate policyholders in bet-the-company litigation, announced today that Joshua Blosveren, a litigator who has amassed numerous victories as lead counsel to policyholders in high-stakes, high-profile insurance litigation, has joined the firm as a partner. With the addition of Blosveren as well as seven new associates within the last year, Cohen Ziffer has more than tripled in size since its launch in 2021.

“Josh is a prominent trial attorney in the insurance recovery field, and his decision to join our firm is one of the best compliments we could possibly get,” said Robin Cohen, chair of Cohen Ziffer. “His impeccable strategic instincts have made him one of his generation’s best first-chair insurance litigators—and has led to outstanding results for corporate policyholders.”

Recognized for his excellence by Chambers, Benchmark Litigation, and other authorities, Blosveren is the architect of victories in several closely watched insurance disputes. His trial successes include a win for Syngenta Crop Protection LLC against an insurer in a case implicating hundreds of millions of dollars of losses arising from personal injury claims involving an herbicide product. Blosveren also achieved a favorable resolution for Cox Enterprises, Inc. and Cox Radio, Inc. in an insurance dispute arising from the infamous Hulk Hogan sex tape scandal.

Cumulatively, Blosveren has obtained hundreds of millions of dollars in insurance recoveries for clients through litigation, arbitration, mediation, and negotiation. He comes to Cohen Ziffer from the litigation boutique Hoguet Newman Regal & Kenney, LLP.

“Cohen Ziffer is an aggressive firm in all the right ways—both inside the courtroom and in its willingness to do things differently as a law firm,” said Blosveren. “I love the bold attitude here and I’m not surprised that it has been attracting young talent from elite law firms. I’m excited to be a part of it.”

Already in 2025, Cohen Ziffer has achieved a major litigation victory. The firm secured a win for Harman International Industries involving D&O insurance coverage for an alleged “bump-up” payment in an M&A transaction—a case of intense interest for which members of the Cohen Ziffer team were cited as Law360 Legal Lions. The firm has won numerous accolades for its work over the last year, including The National Law Journal’s 2024 Elite Trial Lawyers award for insurance. Cohen Ziffer was also shortlisted for the New York Law Journal’s 2024 Insurance Litigation Department of the Year award and Business Insurance’s 2024 Legal Team of the Year award.

Blosveren, a fellow of the American College of Coverage Counsel and the American Bar Foundation, has received similarly widespread honors for his work. He has been named a Northeast Trailblazer by The American Lawyer, an Elite Boutique Trailblazer by The National Law Journal, and a Litigation Star by Benchmark Litigation. In 2013, he was appointed by the chief judge of the State of New York to the Commercial Division Advisory Council, a permanent group that advises the chief judge on all matters involving the Commercial Division of the State of New York.

Blosveren received his J.D. from New York University School of Law and a B.S., with honors, from Cornell University.
