The credit union will honor the selected Community Hero with a $2,500 cash prize and make a $500 donation to the charity of their choice. The winner will be announced at the April 12th home game against the Buffalo Sabres.
“As a credit union, we are built on the philosophy of people helping people,” said Rick Shaw, CEO/President of Tropical Financial. “We want to shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes who inspire positive change in their communities, and we are excited to team up with the Florida Panthers to do so.”
The search will focus on identifying heroes within Tropical Financial’s nine counties of operation: Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Collier, Lee, Sarasota, and Hendry counties. Nominees must be at least 18 years old and do not need to be credit union members.
The top submissions will be reviewed by a panel that will evaluate nominees based on three criteria:
- Impact on the community: How has the nominee’s actions created meaningful change?
- Number of people impacted: How many lives have been positively influenced?
- Compelling story: What makes the nominee’s story unique and inspiring?
