Amber Closes at Anthem House in Locust Point

Bar and restaurant Amber has closed at Anthem House in Locust Point after seven years of business. This story was first reported by The Baltimore Banner.

“It was time,” Amber owner Gino Kozera told SouthBMore.com. “After COVID, the model changed, people came out less and less. We lost our happy hour crowd. I think the economy and inflation impacted people more than anything.”

He also noted how inflation has made everything more expensive for business owners. He noted surging egg prices, and butter currently being twice as expensive as it used to be, adding “there’s butter in everything.”

Kozera said he considered throwing out a “Hail Mary” to save his business but “many times that only helps for a month or two and doesn’t change the fabric of the business.”

He added about Locust Point, “I don’t think there is a better neighborhood, it’s just not a destination neighborhood.”
