
WHAT: Palmer Trinity School is pleased to be hosting celebrated organist and conductor James O’Donnell to play a recital on the brand-new organ in Trinity Chapel on Sunday, March 9, 2025. Built by the renowned Casavant Frères of Quebec in 2024, the installation of this instrument marks a historic moment for the school. This inauguration concert represents the first major performance on the instrument.
WHO: James O’Donnell was previously the Organist and Master of the Choristers at Westminster Abbey in London. During his 22-year tenure there, he directed the music for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother in 2002, the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton in 2011, the service of thanksgiving for Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, in 2022 and the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, also in 2022. He is now Professor in the Practice of Organ at Yale School of Music and the Yale Institute of Sacred Music in New Haven, CT, where he teaches graduate organ majors and other students in sacred music, and where he directs the newly founded Yale Consort.
