Featherless.ai, a Menlo Park, CA-based provider of a serverless AI inference platform, raised $5m in seed funding.
Airbus Ventures made the investment.
The company intends to use the funds to optimize GPU utilization, and reduce operational costs to offer AI inference at lower costs.
Led by CEO and Founder Eugene Cheah, Featherless.ai is a serverless inference platform that provides inference via API to a continually expanding library of open-weight models, including the most popular models for role-playing, creative writing, coding assistance, and more. The company is advancing research into next-generation AI architectures that can lower inference costs, making AI deployment feasible on lower cost hardware rather than requiring high-end GPUs. The team is also actively involved in the research and development of the open-source RWKV foundation model project, the first AI model under the Linux Foundation, which has notably been deployed on billions of devices.
