Vinhos Verdes Announces Colangelo & Partners as Agency of Record

The Vinhos Verdes Demarcated Region, known for producing some of the world’s most diverse and versatile wines, has appointed Colangelo & Partners as its official Agency of Record to represent the renowned Portuguese wine region in the United States. The agency will lead a comprehensive strategic communications campaign designed to raise awareness of Vinhos Verdes wines in the U.S. market.

The 2025 campaign will feature Collective Tasting Experiences, By-the-Glass Masterclasses, Culinary School and Restaurant Training programs, a presence at TEXSOM 2025, and additional activations later in the year. These initiatives aim to raise awareness of classic Vinhos Verdes styles while showcasing the complexity and depth of premium and vintage wines, positioning them as a compelling wine category in the U.S. market. The campaign will also include a media relations strategy to enhance Vinhos Verdes’ visibility among both trade professionals and consumers.

Key Campaign Highlights Include:

  1. Collective Tasting Experiences
    Two walkaround tastings featuring Vinhos Verdes winemakers will be held in Houston on November 3rd and in Miami on November 5th. This immersive experience will highlight the region’s unique styles, grape varieties, and innovative production methods with a Masterclass, interactive workshops, and a Grand Tasting. This event will be open to industry professionals including importers, distributors, retailers, sommeliers, and wine buyers, and top key media influencers. The events will welcome consumers in the evening.
  2. By-the-Glass Masterclasses
    This exclusive Masterclass series will spotlight premium Vinhos Verdes wines, including older vintages, showcasing their depth, complexity, and aging potential. Designed to engage top on-premise professionals, these 5 sessions, taking place in New YorkChicagoLos AngelesMiami, and Houston, will highlight the versatility of Vinhos Verdes wines with a wide range of cuisines, reinforcing their appeal for By The Glass programs.
  3. Culinary School Training Program
    Vinhos Verdes will collaborate with wine schools in key cities to host specialized training and guided tastings led by local Vinhos Verdes Ambassadors. These seven events, taking place in New YorkBostonChicagoLos AngelesMiamiHouston, and Washington D.C., aim to educate the next generation of chefs on the art of wine pairing, showcasing the versatility and endless possibilities that Vinhos Verdes wines bring to the table
  4. Vinhos Verdes at TEXSOM 2025
    Vinhos Verdes will have a presence at the 2025 TEXSOM Conference, where influential trade professionals—including top sommeliers, wine buyers, and beverage directors from across the U.S.—will gather. Participation in the annual event will focus on increasing on-premise placements, driving awareness, and further promoting the premiumization of Vinhos Verdes wines.

Additionally, the campaign will include Restaurant Group Training focused on the Monção & Melgaço sub-region, which will take place between May and September. These events will train 120 on-premise staff across New YorkBoston, and Washington D.C., focusing on the unique characteristics of Monção & Melgaço wines.
