Guardian Nurses Healthcare Advocates, a healthcare advocacy organization that has been leading the way through the healthcare maze for thousands of patients for more than 21 years, is now providing Mobile Care Coordinator® services for the members of United Food & Commercial Workers Local One (UFCW Local One) in Buffalo and Syracuse.
UFCW Local One is a union representing workers in grocery and retail stores, pharmacies, health care and manufacturing facilities, and in food processing and meat packing industries.
Guardian Nurses is a nurse-owned, nurse-run, Philadelphia-based company recognized for innovation with a 2023 American Academy of Nursing Edge Runners award. One of many innovations that make the company’s Mobile Care Coordinator® program unique is the literal mobilization of nurses in branded vehicles to visit patients in person when and where help is needed: in a hospital, a doctor’s office, or at home.
Guardian Nurses’ team of Mobile Care Coordinators answer questions and act as personal guides and champions, providing members and their families with healthcare services, including accompanying patients to providers’ visits, assistance with tests and treatments, second opinions and options, completing forms, understanding unfamiliar terms, handling insurance denials, and more.
Nurses Bringing Local Expertise
The Mobile Care Coordinators responsible for getting UFCW Local One’s New York-based members the best healthcare possible have long tenures in their geographical regions, affording them an insider’s knowledge of the local hospitals, doctors, and healthcare landscape.
Debra Dauphinais, MSN, RN, is now advocating for UFCW Local One members in the Syracuse area. She has more than 17 years of med-surg and cardiac care nursing experience in local inpatient settings, as well as several years of experience in nursing education both in a clinical and classroom setting.
Debrah Rodriguez, BSN, RN, is supporting the union’s members in the Buffalo area. She brings more than 11 years of expertise in clinical practice and healthcare systems management as a nurse care coordinator. As a public health nurse with the Niagara County Department of Health, Nurse Rodriguez spearheaded multiple care coordination initiatives designed to optimize care processes and enhance patient experiences.
“We love working for union members and look forward to getting them the quality, timely care they need,” said Betty Long, RN, MHA, President and Founder of Guardian Nurses. “At Guardian Nurses, we aim to help patients see everything more clearly; peace of mind replaces frustration and fear when patients are confident that they are receiving the best healthcare experience possible with a caring, competent, professional nurse by their side, every step of the way.”
