What first inspired you to enter the mattress industry, and how did that journey lead you to Hästens?
I came to the U.S. at 16 with $100 in my pocket and a drive to build something meaningful. My first job was at a local furniture store, where I learned how much of an impact sleep can have on someone’s life. It wasn’t just about selling mattresses—it was about helping people feel better. Years later, I discovered Hästens and immediately connected with the brand’s philosophy. It’s rooted in craftsmanship, wellness, and purpose. That alignment made it clear: this wasn’t just another product—it was a true sleep sanctuary I could stand behind.
What was the turning point that made you realize luxury sleep solutions, specifically Hästens, were the future for your business?
The shift happened when I saw how Hästens impacted people’s health—not just how they slept, but how they lived. Clients weren’t just more rested—they were thinking more clearly, recovering faster, and feeling better overall. As someone who built a business from the ground up, I understand the toll stress can take. Hästens offered a real solution, and once I experienced that personally, it changed how I thought about the role of sleep. That approach has helped us grow sustainably, year after year. Our team shares a commitment to quality and service, and that shows in every conversation we have and every client we support. It’s not just retail—it’s about curating a personal sleep sanctuary for each person who walks through our doors.
You’ve had the opportunity to work with celebrities, world leaders, and professional athletes. What do you think draws them to Hästens, and do you have a memorable client story to share?
No matter who you are, sleep is non-negotiable. People who operate at a high level—whether in sports, politics, or entertainment—understand the value of recovery. Hästens offers something unmatched in that space. One moment that stands out is when the former President of Colombia, who is also Colombian like me, visited the store. It was a full-circle moment—two people from the same place, standing in a space built around wellness and excellence. He later came back after leaving office to purchase a bed. That moment reminded me that sleep connects us all, and that our sleep spa is a place where anyone—from any walk of life—can invest in true rest.
The pandemic highlighted the importance of wellness, including quality sleep. How have you seen Miami’s demand for luxury sleep solutions evolve over the past few years?
Before the pandemic, sleep wasn’t always top of mind. But once everything slowed down, people started paying more attention to how they felt—mentally and physically. At the same time, Miami shifted from being a seasonal destination to a full-time home for many. That changed the way people approached their spaces and their routines. We’ve seen a clear increase in clients looking to create more restorative environments at home, and for many, that starts with transforming their bedroom into a sleep sanctuary.
Why do you think Miami, in particular, has become a major market for high-end sleep products?
The city has changed a lot in a short amount of time. More people are living here year-round, building careers, raising families, and focusing on quality of life. With that shift, there’s been a real demand for wellness-focused investments—sleep being one of the most important. In a city that moves quickly, people are realizing the need to slow down and recharge. That’s where Hästens fits in—we provide a product, and now a Sleep Spa experience, that truly supports that lifestyle.
With more people prioritizing wellness, how do you educate clients on the importance of investing in better sleep?
It starts with listening. Every client has a story—maybe they’re not sleeping well, maybe they’re dealing with stress, or they’re simply ready to feel better. We take the time to understand where they’re coming from, then explain how sleep plays a role in everything from physical recovery to mental clarity. Our goal isn’t to push a product—it’s to offer knowledge and create a sleep sanctuary that supports their health long-term.
What makes Aventura the ideal location for your third store? Are you seeing a growing appetite for sleep wellness in that area?
Aventura is growing and evolving, just like the rest of South Florida. It’s a vibrant community with full-time residents who value quality and well-being. We’ve been getting more and more inquiries from that area, so opening a store there was a natural next step. It allows us to meet people where they are and offer a more personalized experience through our new Hästens Sleep Spa.

As someone who has built a successful business from the ground up, what advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs looking to break into the luxury market?
Focus on service first. Know your product inside and out, but more importantly, know your client. In the luxury space, people are looking for trust and credibility. That means showing up consistently, being honest, and staying committed to quality in everything you do. If you build something with integrity and put the customer first, success follows—especially when what you’re offering is something as personal and transformative as a sleep sanctuary.
