ID.me Appoints Ka’ohele Carlos as Chief Design Officer

ID.me, the market-leading digital identity wallet, today announced the promotion of Ka’ohele Carlos to Chief Design Officer (CDO). Previously serving as Senior Vice President of Design and Research, Carlos will now lead the company’s design strategy, user experience, and human-centered design practices across all touchpoints. The move reflects ID.me’s continued investment in seamless member experiences and a deep commitment to inclusive, accessible design that removes barriers and optimizes experiences for all individuals.

A native Hawaiian, Carlos brings over two decades of leadership in building some of the world’s most widely used digital platforms. Before joining ID.me, he led UX at Amazon Prime Video, where he oversaw a comprehensive redesign ahead of flagship product launches and embedded accessibility into the design culture. He also served as Senior Director of Design at Paramount+, helping take the platform from concept to a billion-dollar global service, and designed Fandango’s first mobile experience, which reached millions of moviegoers and contributed to the company’s acquisition by Comcast. Carlos is focused on ensuring that every interaction across ID.me’s identity platform is intuitive, rooted in user trust, and built to serve the needs of all users.

“Ka’o is an incredible leader. He is positive, creative, and committed to excellence in every sense,” said Blake Hall, Co-founder and CEO of ID.me. “Ka’o’s built a high-performing team that consistently delivers exceptional work, not just because of their skill, but because of the culture of trust, curiosity, and joy he’s nurtured. I’m excited to see him continue to lead the way.”

Under Carlos’ leadership, ID.me will continue to improve its members’ experience at a time when protecting one’s identity online is more pressing than ever. ID.me addresses both the growing threat of AI-driven fraud and the frustration of managing multiple sign-ins with a simple, secure sign-in. Today, over 145 million users rely on their ID.me digital wallet to keep themselves safe while transacting online. More than 70 million of these users used ID.me to verify their identity to the federal standards for authentication, enabling rapid, frictionless access across organizations that accept ID.me.

“I’m honored to continue working alongside Blake Hall and the exceptional team at ID.me to design experiences that reduce friction, uphold the highest level of security, and scale across every platform our users rely on,” said Carlos. “We strive to ensure that no identity is left behind, and I’m honored to help shape how that principle comes to life across every interaction.”
