Alpaca Raises $52 Million in Series C

NEW YORK–( BUSINESS WIRE )– Alpaca, a self-clearing broker-dealer and API infrastructure provider for brokerages, today announced it has raised $52 million in its Series C funding round from its new office in Manhattan, New York City. This milestone marks further progress in Alpaca’s global expansion and industry-leading product development.

This round featured both new and existing investors, including Derayah Financial, 850 Management, National Investments Company (NIC), Unbound, and Portage Ventures. Investors who choose to re-invest reaffirm their confidence in Alpaca’s vision and execution.

With this funding, Alpaca aims to continue its global expansion, serving both corporate institutions and fintech companies in key regions such as the United States, the Middle East, and Asia. This will add to the more than 200 global partners from over 40 countries already supported by Alpaca’s institutional APIs and self-clearing custody, currently managing over 5 million active brokerage accounts.

The company remains committed to building a global investment infrastructure. Alpaca currently offers global access to equities, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), options trading, and fixed income. It plans to soon launch 24/5 trading, driven by the company’s vision and the growing appetite of global investors for continuous access to financial markets. According to data from the U.S. Federal Reserve, in the fourth quarter of 2024, foreign investors held $16.5 trillion, or the equivalent of 18% of U.S. equities—the largest proportion ever recorded.

Alpaca had a banner year in 2024, launching key products such as US options trading, instant funding assistance, high-yield cash accounts, and individual retirement accounts (IRAs).

“We have always focused on facilitating access and providing opportunities for everyone on the planet. This next phase allows us to expand our efforts globally, supporting our partners and customers with the tools and infrastructure needed to thrive in modern financial markets,” said Yoshi Yokokawa, Co-Founder and CEO of Alpaca. “This round of funding is a recognition of the hard work and dedication of our team, as well as the strong partnerships we have built. We are excited to begin this next phase of growth and deliver even more value to our customers around the world.”
