On Thursday, April 17th, the stage at Palm Beach State College’s Eissey Theater came alive with excitement, creativity, and applause as Gulfstream Goodwill Industries proudly hosted its annual Gulfstream Goodwill’s Got Talent show. This uplifting event showcased the outstanding talents of students from the Career Academy of the Palm Beaches and adult participants from the Capabilities of the Palm Beaches Adult Day Training program for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
Each year, the event celebrates the creativity and hard work of these remarkable individuals who have dedicated months of preparation with certified music therapists, A Creative Arts, and Improvisation Coach to bring their best performances to the spotlight.
The Career Academy of the Palm Beaches serves students with disabilities, ages 16-21, who have deferred their high school diplomas, providing them with an inclusive and empowering environment to grow and express themselves. Meanwhile, Capabilities of the Palm Beaches offers a vibrant day program designed to enhance social skills, creativity, and employability for adults with disabilities.
This year’s showcase included heartfelt singing, powerful dance routines, expressive art, and side-splitting improv — each act a testament to the passion, courage, and commitment of the performers. The audience, filled with families, community members, and supporters, cheered with enthusiasm and admiration throughout the evening.
Renowned digital artist Laurence Gartel, often called The Father of Digital Art, was in attendance and shared, “to witness these brave people expressing their creativity is nothing short of a miracle. It takes courage to demonstrate inner thoughts to talent for others to purchase some of their art is to interact. I brought home a small piece of hope in their world and mine.”
In addition to the live performances, the event also featured a stunning exhibition of original artwork created by both students and adult participants. This collection serves as a vivid representation of resilience and individuality, with each piece offering a glimpse into the unique perspectives and emotions of its creator.
Gulfstream Goodwill’s Got Talent continues to be a shining example of the transformative power of the arts and the importance of inclusive programming. Gulfstream Goodwill Industries extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated trainers, families, volunteers, and supporters who make this celebration possible each year.
