SCOPE Capital Group Appoints Edward Brown as Senior Director

SCOPE Capital Group LLC has announced that Edward Brown has joined SCOPE Capital Group as a Senior Director in the firm’s Philadelphia office. Brown will focus on sourcing and securing financing for all commercial real estate asset classes in the Philadelphia MSA.

Brown has originated and closed in excess of $2 billion of commercial mortgage loans during his 40-year career in commercial real estate finance. He joins SCG from Quaker Realty Capital, where he worked for six years in debt and equity advisory and placement for commercial real estate projects.

“Ed has an impressive track record securing complex finance opportunities,” adds Matthew Rosenberg, Managing Director of SCOPE Capital Group. “He provides an extensive underwriting skillset to each loan request and is a top real estate finance deal maker in the Northeast Corridor. Combining SCG’s data-driven platform with Ed’s deep relationships in the capital markets, Ed is a major addition to the firm’s expansion.” “Ed will be instrumental in the continued growth of our multifamily business,” adds Phil Sharrow, Managing Director of SCOPE and Principal of SCOPE Capital Group. “He practices with extreme transparency which will create synergies throughout our platform, something we believe the industry lacks. A great value-add to our company and our clients.”

Brown commented, “I am excited to have the opportunity to match the collaborative culture, digital resources, and impressive growth at SCG with my established service-driven practice. This feels like a great fit at this stage of my career, and I look forward to contributing to the company’s strategic growth.”

Prior to leading Quaker Realty Capital, Brown served as SVP/Managing Director at NorthMarq in Philadelphia. In his other roles, Brown served as Principal/Co-Founder of Devon Realty Capital, which acted as the exclusive advisor for PGIM, formerly Prudential Mortgage Capital, and held positions at Hamilton Bank, Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company, and Provident Mutual Life Insurance Company. Edward received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and completed the entire required curriculum for the MAI appraisal designation.
