PITTSBURGH–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Greycourt & Co., Inc., a leading advisor to ultra-high net worth families and family offices, is pleased to announce several organizational changes related to the firm’s long-term growth plans.
Effective July 1st, 2021, Matthew Litwin has been appointed the firm’s Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Greg Friedman, who will become Chairman of the Board. Greg Curtis, Greycourt’s Founder and previous Chairman has been named Chairman Emeritus. In addition, David Morris has been promoted to Managing Director and Head of Manager Research, and Mark Thomas has been named Greycourt’s Chief Investment Officer.
This leadership transition is the third of its kind during Greycourt’s 33-year history, and is a cornerstone of the firm’s plans to remain vibrantly aligned with its clients on a long-term basis. This succession planning is an important part of Greycourt’s strategic commitment to serving clients with continuity and stability.

Importantly, none of Greycourt’s senior leadership team members are leaving the firm or diminishing their involvement with Greycourt clients. Greg Curtis will remain an active member of Greycourt’s senior leadership team as a member of Greycourt’s board and as an advisor to clients. Jim Foster, Greycourt’s previous Chief Investment Officer, will also continue as an important part of the Greycourt management team and will focus on his role as an advisor to clients.

Mr. Friedman is an experienced investor with 35 years of experience, 20 of them spent as a member of Greycourt’s investment and management team. Prior to joining Greycourt, he was a principal with Windermere Investment Associates advising high net worth families. He is a pioneer and an expert in tax-efficient investing and leads the tactical analysis efforts at Greycourt with Mark Thomas, Greycourt’s Chief Investment Officer. In addition to his new role as Chairman of the Board, he will continue to serve as an advisor to a number of the firm’s clients.
Mr. Litwin is a skilled executive with 25 years of investment and senior leadership experience. He has been with Greycourt for the last 11 years, most recently leading the manager research team as the firm’s President. Prior to Greycourt, he had a successful career as a sell-side and buy-side analyst and portfolio manager at firms including Goldman, Sachs & Co., Inc. and Viking Global Investors. As CEO, Mr. Litwin will focus on Greycourt’s growth and long-term evolution. He is responsible for cultivating the firm’s longstanding Investment Advisory Services as well as the rapidly-growing Collaborative Solutions business line, which offers strategic consulting services for very large family offices. In addition to his new role as CEO, he will continue to serve as an advisor to several of the firm’s clients.
Mr. Morris is a seasoned investor with over 20 years of experience in private capital markets. He has spent the last three and a half years at Greycourt leading private markets research efforts, and prior to joining Greycourt was an investment manager for Carnegie Mellon University’s private equity investment portfolio with research responsibilities across venture capital, buyouts, and other private markets segments. He was a founding member of Conversus Asset Management, a $2 billion publicly traded private equity fund of funds. In his role as head of manager research, he will oversee the team responsible for providing Greycourt clients with ideas, insights, and analysis across a broad spectrum of asset classes and strategies.
Mr. Thomas has over 20 years of expertise in analyzing and investing sophisticated investment strategies, with unique technical capabilities in traditional and alternative assets, energy and other real assets. He has spent the last four years at Greycourt overseeing Greycourt’s liquid and semi-liquid manager research efforts. Prior to joining Greycourt he was with CTC Consulting for ten years as a senior member of the manager research group and head of hedge fund research. Early in his career he worked with PPM Energy focusing on deal structuring and asset valuation. In his role as CIO, he will chair Greycourt’s Investment Committee and lead the efforts to determine the firm’s capital markets views and overall investment philosophy and process.
